We're Number Six!
Sure, the Tories got the most votes. And the Greens were fifth. But the real interesting battles were, yet again, overshadowed by the Liberal/Conservative/Separatist/Socialist/Green media bias. Did the Marxists-Lenninists win bragging rights over the Communists? Could the Animal Alliance bring people out to vote? How many marijuana supporters remembered it was election day?

I wonder how many of the 14,446 Canadians who would normally have voted for Progressive Conservatives mistakenly voted for the other PC Party, the new Progressive Canadian Party? Kingsley should never have allowed that confusion.

CPC used to be the Communist Party of Canada.

Hey Guys...
I've been thinking about this question for a long time...if anyone can answer it ASAP it'll give my brain a break. To receive the $1.75 per vote...how much does the party has to receive in popular vote...is it 4% or 5% because from what I recall it was 5% and the Green party this time only got 4.5% does that mean they won't be getting any money I hope that's the case

Unfortunately, it's 2%. One of the few planks of Harper's platform I like, however, is that he wants to get rid of the taxpayer subsidy entirely, so hopefully he'll implement that in his accountability package, and kill off the Greens entirely.

Biggest losers: Marsha Fine and Yves Le Seigle of the Marxies: no votes at all. How the hell did that happen? Mix up the date? Self-loathing so strong even they couldn't vote for themselves?

The Progressive Canadian party is all about confusing voters into voting for them.
It doesn't help that the CBC, etc. consistently make the "mistake" of referring to the Conservative party as "PC".

Actually I would think that many voters intending to vote PC were confused into voting conservative. Common experience in 2004:
"Hi there I'm Sean Tisdall, candidate for the Progressive Canadian party"
"Oh, right, Conservative"
[long winded explanation of pheonix program, nom de guerre strategy followed by blank stare]
...
"We're the red toriues what don't like the merger"
...
...
"Oh. Well, what's your stance on..."
It's a miracle that I ever covered 3500 doors.
I'm with Dale Swirsky on this, we might save ourselves a lot of headache by renaming as the progressive party. But still the Conservatives were hoping to capitalise on the good will that a lot of red tories had generated. I think that given that many countries have competing Liberal and Liberal Democratic parties that a Conservative and Progressive Conservative would not be too much for an individual intelligent enough to vote to deal with. In fact it would likely have reduced confusion.
Anyhoo, 8th in '04 7th in '06 movin' on up!

Can't find any mention of these candidates with Elections Canada. Did they drop off the ballot perhaps? What ridings were they in?
Just curious, 'cos if true, that'd be hilarious.
