Political Nut: Round 2
While both are worthy winners, Anders has always been a personal favourite of mine, so he gets my vote. Maybe 2005 wasn't his nuttiest year ever, but think of it as a "lifetime achievement award".

You must admit that Gurmant Grewal and his phoney baloney tapes were pretty nutty!

Anders.

Anders is the clear winner.
Saturday, he was personally telephoning voters asking for support. A friend of a friend was called. She politely said that he could not count on her support.
His reply: "Who cares, I'm going to win anyway."
He's my choice for Harper's foriegn affairs minister because of his diplomacy.

Anders, and I'm a Tory who went to school with the guy at U of C. If only I had photos from back in those days.... There is a rather good picture of Anders in Leaderhosen(SP?) in one of the U of C yearbooks, from a good old Bremuda Shorts Day.
Someone has to dig that up and put it on a blog. Hint, Hint Calgary Grit. I'd do it myself, but I don't live in Calgary anymore, and Mac Hall is a little out of the way.
Anyway, I've heard this friend of a friend "I'm going to win anyway" story twice now. Can anyone confirm it? Anders is way, way over the top on many occasions, but he is not a stupid person. I just can't see him doing this, he would know it would get out, and the only thing Anders can do is be a politician, so.?.?
Just saying, I'd like a first hand recount....

The year of said yearbook is going to be 96 or 97.

I know one friend in Calgary West who has heard Anders use the "I'm going to win anyways" line on them after they said they wouldn't vote for him.
It wouldn't at all surprise me.

Anders does get lifetime achievement award, but he is a off the wall that its actually funny, nobody could take this seriously, so its harmless to some degree.
Duffy on the other hand is a scary nut. Threatening Mike Puffster the last week of the campaign was a interesting side to see. There was yesterday's scary, crazy laugh that he pulled on CTV again. I just think that if we gave Duffy a lot more airtime he could easily beat Anders for Political Nut 2006. I just suspect that he is ready to blow at any given moment.
By Anonymous, at 4:21 p.m.
The problem is that Anders hasn't really done anything notably nutty THIS YEAR. John Duffy will fade away after this campaign, and I think given his recent exploits, he should get the nod.
I've never seen a better impression of the Iraqi Information Minister that the one John Duffy put on...

Anders doesn't deserve that much credit (nut) and as far as giving him the post of foreign affairs minister he has to take back seat to Jason 'the weenie'. You will recall Jason's bold democracy initiative in China.
We know how to hatch 'em in Alberta, don't we?
I bet if we hide around a pillar in the commons we'd see the two of them skipping into parliament hand in hand.

Thank you for your article, quite effective information.
