On Ice
Oh, sorry. Anyways, I've decided to skate off topic on this one. As you know, Team Canada was announced yesterday. And, with Gilles Duceppe's comments on Quebec getting their own sports team, I think it's fair game to comment on.
So, if I were picking team, here's who I'd take:
Goal
Martin Brodeur
Roberto Luongo
Marty Turco
Defense
Rob Blake
Chris Pronger
Scott Niedermayer
Wade Redden
Adam Foote
Robyn Regehr
Paul Martin (Curses! Turns out he's American. And, from what I hear, all talk. So let's take Jovo instead).
Forward Lines
Gagne-Sakic-Iginla
Nash-Spezza-Heatley
Richards-LeCavalier-St.Louis
Staal-Thornton-Draper
Doan

Your picks look okay except for Wade Redden picked twice. Might I suggest Robin Regehr?

Spezza is on the taxi squad, not the main team yet.

I like Bertuzzi, as uncool as it seems to be. But I really can't believe how little attention the omissions of Shanahan and Kariya are getting. Sure, youth must be given its due, but come on. Brendan Shanahan!!

Bertuzzi was brutal two years ago, even before the stick swinging incident, and he hasn't looked like he belongs this year. Maybe you stick him on the taxi squad, but I think the guy is overated.
I like Kariya a lot, but I just can't justify bumping one of the young guys for him. Shannahan is playing great but he's 38...

Hey guys, what about Crosby? :-)

How could you leave Brian McCabe off the list of defencemen? The guy has 40 points ffs.

"Bertuzzi was brutal two years ago, even before the stick swinging incident . . ."
Liberals! They can't get anything right!

You truly are a Calgarian Bart! You knew enough to put Richards-Lecavalier-St. Louis as a line.
Oh how I hated hearing the announcers call their names as goal scorers in June of 2004!

5 players were from Quebec. A Quebec team and a Canadian team would mean we would get to see Staal, Spezza, Crosby and other great players play. Canada would still have the best team. I am all for it. I would cheer team Canada first and Quebec 2nd.

Cindy Crosby is being taught a lesson for snubbing the "prospects" game last year in Vancouver. He said he was "tired"-poor dear.
Anyway the hockey shakers and movers remember these kind of things. Gretsky feels that those players who comprise the elite(like Crosby)have to go the extra mile to support the game that provides such a handsmoe living for them.

I'd make the second a youth line. I'd like to see Spezza-Bergeron-Staal. Unfortunately Bergeron has been forgotten this year, but mark my words he's on his way to being the next sakic/iginla/lecavelier. Anyways, a young line always boosts the whole team.
I also find Bertuzzi a questionable decision, only because he hasn't been himself this year.
Finally Sakic is captain, he should have been 4 years ago. He's the best all around forward in the NHL. Big ups for Joe, he's the man.

I think Duceppe has the right idea, and that every province should dress a team. Well not really, but I pretended to think so here, and came up with some pretty impressive provincial/regional rosters.
