Farce of the Penguins
The joke of the day went to a joint effort between the BBC for this delightful video:
On the political scene, Art Hanger was flying out of the Justice Committee again today in an effort to avoid those pesky Cadscam questions.
The question of the day is this: Why does the NDP keep objecting to a parliamentary investigation into the Cadman Affair? Because I sure can't figure out why.

Because without Tom Flanagan, who runs the NDP campaign next time around?

Three words: Pat. Fucking. Martin.

Pat Martin - Appropriate on so many levels!!! Like the penguins in the video who claim to live in Antarctica, but spend their time in the tropics... oh you get the picture.

They are far too busy drafting non-confidence motions against the liberals to worry about petty little things like vote-buying.

An NDP adviser explained: "Damaging Harper and the Conservatives on ethical issues like the Cadman mess mainly helps the Grits, and that's not in our gameplan."

Make sense now?

steve v; Makes a certain amount of sense - I think you get the prize.
At the same time, Pat Martin and co have been leading the charge on Mulroney stuff (although, I guess, trying to get the Liberals tied into that too).

Man that video is great!
On the other hand, I am really disappointed in the NDP for acting that way. Is it too much for a politician just to do what's right? That'll get them elected most surely, right?

No - doing what's right cost Paul Martin his government. Doing what's right generally doesn't work.

who knows, if the NDP suddenly started making sense yesterday Dan, it would have been one hell of an April Fool's joke

CG, I heard Joe Comartin give a pretty reasonable explanation on Newman's show. He said the NDP is of the opinion that this looks like a criminal matter and so should be investigated by the police first. If they come back and say they can't lay charges, then the political aspects can be investigated by committee. He said that if it goes to committee, it will delay the police investigation. I don't know if that was just BS, but it sounded plausible.

I thought it was the Liberals who were bringing non-confidence motions against the NDP & Bloc...
