LS 2 Quit SB Campaign
While this certainly isn't great news for Scott, it does likely mean that reports he plans to pull the plug on his campaign soon aren't true, as it wouldn't make much sense to resign a week before the entire thing shuts down.

Brison's a tough call... I wouldn't care for him to win the leadership (and don't expect him to), but - it's good to have an open homosexual running for leadership of a major, often-governing party in the country. I wish there were more aboriginals and women and immigrants and others making serious bids at high and highest office, so in the end - I want Brison in the race.
(Not because he's gay, but because he's gay and generally competent - I would NOT want an incompetent bumbling gay in the race just for the sake of having a "gay guy". With a dozen candidates, I just wish there were more serious female and aboriginal and other candidates. If Ignatieff, Dion, Rae, Brison, Kim Campbell, David Suzuki, Michelle Jean, Phil Fontaine, and Jeff Adams were running, I'd love the race a lot more.)
(I'm not saying the above would be great PMs, I'm just rhyming them off the top of my head)

PS - LOVE your headline here.

I see on Cherniak's site that Brison is the only Liberal to handle Thomas Hubert the proper way thus far. Where is Kennedy on this? Afraid of offending the terrorist vote?

But what about if he was incompetent? Then he could also represent the incompetence community. There are a lot of us out there.

YOUNG KENNEDY SUPPORTERS USE WEB TO GAIN POLITICAL VOICE
After looking at Kennedy's website, that headline is more than a little ironic. Why did it take Jason Cherniak to have Thomas Hubert shut down? Does anyone in the Kennedy campaign know what their own supporters are up to?

I agree with you Calgary Grit, I don't think Brison is out.
I mean look at Volpe, his campaign has gone through way more turmoil and he's still in the race!
By Harrap, at 9:59 p.m.
Nuna D,
Yes we have an elobarate system whereby sattelite's track what each and every Kennedy supporter is doing and saying at any given moment. Welcome to 1984. Give me a freakin break.

I think it is clear why there arent. Look how immigrant Joe Volpe has been vilified by many Liberals. Bennett and MHF have been minimized by all by not paying attention to policy they released. Immigrant woman Fry has not been treated well as nobody listened to her policy and only talks about her in phrases that also contain 'crosses burning'. Stronach was very vilified as not trustworthy and minimized as not intelligent. We are as a party perhaps too forgiving of mistakes in a career by Ignatieff or Rae or Manley or McKenna or Rock. But if an immigrant or woman makes a mistake we crucify them, or keep looking till we find them.

Somehow candidates manage to say which bloggers and executive members are supporting them, so not knowing or checking what these people are saying is amateur time.

Making a comment about something Gerard Kennedy has no control over under a post that has nothing to do with Gerard is "amateur time", whatever that means.
By Dan McKenzie, at 11:07 a.m.
To summarize:
- Volpe being vilified has nothing to do with being an immigrant. He's being vilified because he cheats and he continually talks out of his ass.
- MHF is new to the party and a small player. My feeling his her day might come.
- Fry is crazy.
- Stronach is thought as not trustworthy/intelligent because... wait for it.. she isn't trustworthy or intelligent. This has nothing to do with her gender.
- Bennett you may have a fair point on.. I'm not sure. I've never actually seen her speak.
By Michael Fox, at 11:26 a.m.
I think Scott has shown that he has a strong character and solid convictions. He will be on the ballot at the Convention.
I agree that we need more diversity candidates in the party. But our party needs to work to give these people more of the limelight in critic portfolios and on special projects/issues.
A couple of us in the Aboriginal Peoples' Commission has urged Tina Keeper to run, but she didn't feel like she was quite ready, being just recently elected.
I think people should watch Tina Keeper and Gary Merasty. They could be real stars in the party. When the party was losing seats nationally at the last election, both of these candidates, picked up rural western seats. There success had greatly to do with their ability to get out the Aboriginal vote.
With Gary Merasty, he won mostly on his own merit. While we in the Aboriginal community said this was a great opportunity. The party focussed their resources on (the non-winners) Alyce Herle and Chris Axworthy. Maybe next time they will realize the potential...
By Joshua Fraser, at 12:34 p.m.
Tina Keeper is a great northerner, she is up there all the time. I would like you to tell that to the hundreds of northern and Aboriginal communities that voted for her.
By Joshua Fraser, at 3:23 p.m.
I met Tina Keeper at the LPCA in Edmonton and I have to say I was really impressed.
She was very humble, sweet and friendly.
I think she will do very well, leader probably not, but I was very impressed.
