Gold!

Jennifer Heil wins Canada's first medal of the Olympics, a gold in Moguls.

Let's just hope she doesn't defect to Latvia before the medal ceremony...

  • Maybe they will give her a better offer. After all, business is business.

  • For those who watched the event it was amazing, she did perfect, and I don't even know her nor do I follow the sport, though I ski, was just soo happy literally I jumped from the couch win it was announced. It was funny it came up on the screen that she was first before she even knew about it, so I celebrated before she even knew. But it just puts this sense of pride in every Canadian that was watching I'm sure. But CG you made an interesting point, you're hilarious.

  • Hmm, well she is from Spruce Grove but now she trains in Montreal. Does that count?

  • The P.A. person seemed to be under the impression she had defected to the U.S.

    Great performance, as anon says.

  • Stephen Harper as Prime Minister = hopefully a record haul of Olympics this year.

I'm a disgruntled Albertan who's proud to be Canadian again!

  • One gold medal in one day? 25% of all the gold medals given out today?! Clearly our Olympic team is over-funded - another legacy of the free-spending, wrap-themselves-in-the-flag Liberals. Hopefully the Conservatives will kill this unnecessary program and give this money directly to Canadians. Canadians should have the freedom to choose which athletes get their hard-earned money. Ordinary Canadians will make athletic funding choices that better suit their needs than know-it-all government. The Liberals have pandered to the Olympic vote for too long, fostering an unhealthy culture of gold medals and athletic dependency on government funding. It's time to cut them off...

  • Well it would serve us right after poaching all of those poor Latvian athletes in Salt Lake City.
