Lyin' Brian

Interesting...

Given that he's been copying Martin at every opportunity since taking office, here's my bold prediction for this week:

Harper claims he's "Mad as Hell".
Calls inquiry into Airbus Scandal.
Appoints Eddie Goldenberg as chief counsel.

  • Can I be the commission spokesperson? I've always wanted to write a book.

  • Since watching the Mulroney segment on the Fifth Estate tonight, I wondered how long it would take a blogger to make a post that brings Harper into the affair. Without rhyme or reason. Now I know. Sorry Bart, not even humourous. Must have been a slow news day for you.

BTW, you tied with some nutbar at my site.

  • How did I bring Harper into this?

The post was a rather tongue in cheek shot at Martin...

  • Harumph! Perhaps I'm becoming overly sensitive these days. Maybe I should chill out. Bah Humbug.

  • NOT funny, Bart.

You soooo crossed the line on this one.

How dare you insinuate that Stephen Harper could show emotion! That would require some sort of "emotion chip."

    Crazy talk.

  • I do this with deep reservations, but:

    You're misrepresenting Paul Martin.

    He appointed Justice John Gomery.

Gomery was the one who appointed one of Mulroney's former aides in order to silence critics who claimed the inquiry was just going to be a Liberal coverup.

Gomery himself was not known to have strong political leanings when the inquiry was called.

  • I liked it Bart.

    The higher, the fewer.

  • Back to the matter at hand, did I read that right? Did Mulroney get $300,000 for giving this guy a brochure from some company?

Mailing a brochure to someone would take one, what, five minutes? By my calculations, that works out to the equivalent of being paid over 3.5 million dollars an hour! Yeah, that's not at all suspicious!

Meet the old boss, same as all the other bosses ever, and forever... amen.

  • There's some real possibilities here;
Bri pays back the 5mil -
Emerson pays back the 100k -
Fortier decides to run after all, announcing a total conversion with the realization he is indeed not entitled to his entitlements -
dingwall pays back ...... nah, that's pushing it.

  • Schreiber's a pretty trustworthy guy. It's not like he's in the process of being deported back to Germany for fraud charges. Oh wait, yes he is.

I'm not sure I'd take everything this guy says as gospel.

I'm not surprised though that as soon as the Cons get back into power after 13 years the CBC runs a story reminding everyone about Mulroney and his antics. Subtle but deliberate.

If you're implying that the CBC wants to sway voters to the left, then why wouldn't they have run the show prior to the election?

  • Interesting that the Conservatives' business connections have not changed. Harper's new Minister of National Defense was also a lobbyist for Airbus, just like Schreiber.

Actually, Gomery was appointed by TRUDEAU.

  • It was a smear job against Mulroney. Again....
