Welcome to the official opposition...
NDP 'unease' surrounds Turmel's Bloc secrecy
There's a serious unease in the NDP over interim leader Nycole Turmel's memberships in two Quebec sovereigntist parties, a party staffer said Thursday.
The staffer, speaking anonymously to RDI's La période des questions, said it shows a lack of integrity that Turmel held memberships in the Bloc Québécois for four years — until weeks before she announced her NDP candidacy — and in provincial party Québec Solidaire until Tuesday.
RDI, CBC/Radio-Canada's French-language news channel, confirmed the staffer works for the NDP but agreed not to name him.
These leaks shouldn't be treated any more seriously than "senior Liberal insider" stories, but expect to see more of them now that the NDP have hit the big time - especially if the party finds itself in a leadership race.

It's just partisan politics imo
BTW it's stuff like "welcome to official opposition" that makes me love this blog... too cute, too funny.
There was a time when I couldn't stand separatists. Entitled to their anachronistic 19th century view of nationalism? Sure. Worthwhile listening to? Ugh, what a waste of time, ils m'ont fait perdre mon temps. Marcus Garvey and Malcolm X had a far, far, far stronger case for ethnic seclusion than any separatist ever did (and Malcolm X traveled (ie. saw a bit of the world) and changed his ideas).
Today, I can bear them much easier. George Carlin's had a good effect on me.
Still, knowing how people react to these things, I'm still surprised Layton made this choice - - or rather, I'm surprised that Layton/Turmel/Mulcair etc didn't address the issue head-on pre-emptively.
She joined the BQ for "social justice"... okay. Did she realize there was a federalist option that offered essentially the same things or is the NDP total 2011 news to her? I don't know. But in the big picture I don't care anymore... it's Harper vs Turmel, separatist-autonomist vs. separatist-autonomist. Here goes...

>>expect to see more of them now that the NDP have hit the big time - especially
Yah especially now the Libs and Cons realize Québec won't have anything to do with them
And if they can't have Quebec's vote supply, no federalist party can
CEOs are required to pursue max profit regardless of the consequence
Party brass in the Lib and Con parties are required to pursue max number of seats regardless of the consequence.
better to make separatists feel unwelcome and hopefully disenchant them from the Ndp back to the Bloc
the Bloc can't take power & the Libs & Cons prefer facing that kind of enemy

NDP website: Jack's fighting cancer now to fight for families in September.
Look I admire the guy's achievements and all but monkeys, does it get any more panel-tested and focus-grouped than that...?

The Bloc use to go by a different name in the 1980s: They were part of the Mulroney government. Switching allegiances aren't new.

It will not really have success, I feel this way.
