Most Predictable Event of the Election

Stephen Harper plays a Beatles tune on the piano:

  • "I'm meeting you halfway, you stupid hippies!"
    - Richard M. Nixon, after singing White Rabbit in the Futurama episode "A Head in the Polls"

  • This should have been one of the 20 questions!

  • Fun nitpick: not a Beatles song, though it is a Beatle's song.

I'm willing to give Harper credit for skill at the piano. But for all our benefit, please slap some auto-tune on that voice, stat.

  • Marc - I would have, but it was an obvious yes! It would be like asking "will one of the leaders kiss a baby this campaign"?

  • He must be squeezing his pet cat really hard to make that noise... Ugh.

  • Where's zombie John Lennon when we need him?

  • "Imagine there's no countries / It isn't hard to do"

    From a Prime Minister...

"Nothing to kill or die for /
    And no religion too"

...who just launched missiles against a foreign foe, and who ends his speeches with "God Bless Canada"...

Imagine no possessions / I wonder if you can

...a deeply rooted libertarian who holds that property rights are the most fundamental of all individual rights...

No need for greed or hunger / A brotherhood of man

...a capitalist who feels that greed is the basis of our economic system and for whom "brotherhood of man" assuredly has a vaguely Marxist twinge.

You may say that I'm a dreamer /
But I'm not the only one
    I hope someday you'll join us /
And the world will live as one

The only joining Harper nurtures in his own secret dreams is economic union with the U.S.

  • and with a little luck, very soon,

    A working class zero,
    Is all that he'll be
