So, judging by my friends in Toronto's Facebook status, the only answer to this is to turn the clock back on amalgamation in order to give the "real" city of Toronto a chance of electing a progressive mayor.
I find this odd for two reasons:
1) Didn't you just have Miller for 2 terms? Do you expect to always win?
2) Why could Smitherman not have done better outside of downtown? Was he that much of a wild and crazy lefty that his support was pure Annex?
This "let's return the real TO to TO" strikes me as just being a sore loser.
