He's A Real Boy Now

In QP today, Harper said he couldn't answer questions on the possible extradition of Schreiber because it's the Minister of Justice's decision.

Uh-huh.

The Prime Minister who won't let his Ministers choose long distance carriers without vetting their choice through the PMO isn't going to get involved in managing the biggest scandal to hit his government?

Sure...

  • Hold the phone.

If the Mulroney affair is a scandal of the Harper government, does that now mean that Harper is a PC and not a Reform-Alliance-Conservative? Or are you picking and choosing when to associate him with B.Mul. when it best suits you.

    Thought so.

After Mulroney is cleared, the Right Honorable Stephen Harper should call a full inquiry to look into Chretien. Just to be sure.

  • Like I said yesterday, this scandal shouldn't really be tied to Harper (appart from a few lingering questions about letters he ignored) but it's certainly a dicey situation for him and the Tories are the party on the hot seat in the eyes of the public.

And, judging from Harper's last two budgets and his position vis-a-vis Quebec, you bet he's governing like an old PCer.

  • “Right Honorable Stephen Harper should call a full inquiry to look into Chretien.”

The ‘honorable’ part is certainty open to question.

Anyway, there must be an inquiry into Chretien if there is a sworn affidavit from an insider.

The problem with the Gomery Inquiry is that Chretien used intermediaries. The inquiry hit a brick wall when none of the insiders turned state’s evidence.

Similarly, any general inquiry would be a witch-hunt without a turncoat. The Starr inquiry into Bill Clinton’s involvement in the Whitewater affair turned into a brutal assault on Clinton’s associates.

We don’t want that in Canada.

Hasn't it been Harper who picks and chooses when he wants to associate himself with Mulroney? It doesn't take any insincerity on the part of Liberals to draw a connection -- there are more than enough photos of the two together.

  • Cruton is going to have his ass reamed in this JI.

It wil be beautiful to watch him squirm as he trys to explain Shawinagate.

Excellent times coming to show the truth about the Liberal Party of Canada, not the CBC whitewash version.
