They quote Dion in the new ad, I have heard, from a 2002 announcement. I guess this means that all Harper's quotable quotes from the same period about global warming, socialist plots and the Iraq war to name but a select few are fair game now.
Good. I am glad to hear that. Harper needs to take responsibility for all that he has said in the last ten years.
By Aaron, at 10:53 p.m.
Harper will say one thing in french and the opposite in english in a cynical attempt to play off different parts of the country against each other. A masterstroke for the cause of Canadian unity.
I doubt Harper will be running his new negative ad translated into enlgish in the Maritimes any time soon. And I doubt that he will be bragging to working families in the 905 region of Ontario who are looking for a child care space about how exactly he has fixed the fiscal imbalance.
By Aaron, at 11:30 p.m.
Yeah right Aaron... he'll do that cause' no one in 'berta speaks French eh? You know, like the Prime Minister from Calgary.
Besides, we're not terribly upset about Harpers Ad... we always knew Quebec was a whore. Now we know just how cheap she is too.
CG... pass the beer and another billion in black goop please.

Aaron, when were they not fair game, if by "fair game" you mean "used for partisan advantage by an opponent"?
If memory serves, during the last election the Libs and/or other opponents of the Tories dredged up a speech Harper gave years ago and tried to use it against him, they used his interview on US TV about Iraq against him, and they used his infamous "firewall" letter against him.
The fact that none of these tactics worked, in terms of the end result of that election, doesn't mean that they weren't used.
So hey, if you want to give that particular strategy a shot once again, be my guest...

Sure Harper will. With the adoption of the O'Brien proposal for equalization and provincial transfers, proposed by a non-partisan expert panel created by Ralph Goodale, Harper has restored per capita transfers for post-secondary education and social services (immediately) and for health (over time), resolving Ontario's major complaint about federal government transfers, an unfairness that 13 years of Liberal governments in Ottawa didn't fix.
Over time, the province of Ontario is a big winner with the new equalization and social transfer system. Just look at all the money McGuinty had to throw around in his pre-election budget courtesy of Harper and Flaherty.

Has missuss-augie pete crossed over to the dark side, joining Werner with his anti-grit songsheet singing? Is the koolaid over there that much sweeter? How come so many Kennedy-ites don't seem to understand the team concept...

For what it is worth, I think they did work. How else to you explain a weak minority in an election that should have resulted in wiping the liberals off the map?
By Gayle, at 12:59 p.m.
On a serious note, this is probably a good move on Harper's part - build on the budget which was certainly good for Quebec.

Very interesting post. Esp. the particular stands accustomed to support the head. I would not have seen the idea without any help. Will need to examine carefully previous images to view this kind of attribute.
