He Ain't Heavy (in debt), He's My Brother
Bob Rae has collected $1-million in donations and borrowed $845,000.
Michael Ignatieff has collected $1-million in donations and borrowed $170,000.
Gerard Kennedy has collected $453,595 in donations and borrowed $201,750.
Stephane Dion has collected $284,976 in donations and borrowed $480,000.

Donation limit of $1K/person next year.
Probable federal election next year.
RAE ($845K debt) and DION ($480K debt) will face Herculean challenges if they are not victorious.
MY GUESSES:
RAE ($1,845K total)
1. must have had too few volunteers
2. paid his staff too well
3. will have by far the best hospitality suite and freebies
IGGY ($1,170K total)
DION ($765K total)
1. has done a very poor job of raising money
2. is fortunate to have people willing to lend him money
GERARD ($655K total)
1. best use of volunteers
2. best use of money (learned something about extending that dollar while at the food bank; something that might come in handy during the next federal election)
3. one-third the amount Rae is spending (Rae got 20% of DSM vote vs. Gerard got 17% of DSM vote)
4. will pay off his borrowed debt no matter how long it takes (I was attending fundraisers more than a year after Gerard's 1996 fifth ballot loss to McGuinty to help repay his leadership debt)

I heard a rumor that Bob Rae was going to have to start shutting down his campaign and sending his workers home without pay to keep the deficiet he's running down.
