Vote Out Anders...Part 81

Rob Anders is (allegedly) in hot water again:

The Liberals say the Mounties should look at a lawsuit filed against Rob Anders by James Istvanffy, who alleges he was fired from his job as manager of the Calgary West constituency office after questioning the way Anders handled his finances.

In a statement of claim filed in Calgary Court of Queen's Bench, Istvanffy alleges Anders borrowed from him thousands of dollars for expenses that the House of Commons would not cover.

Istvanffy alleges Anders then used salary increases, false travel expenses and even bookshelves purchased for his office to pay him back.

  • What was the name of the Alliance Candidate that Joe Who beat out in 2000?

Anyway, there's a movement that's trying to get him to replace Anders as the Conservative candidate.

That's the smartest way to vote out Anders. People vote Tory, not Anders. They'll never vote for a Liberal, so the smart thing to do would be to replace Anders at the nomination level.

  • Rob Anders is a terrible MP and a terrible person. I do suspect that Stephen Harper would like to maroon Mr. Anders on a desert island for several years.

Sean, that's a wonderful point, darling - that people vote Tory, not Anders. It vexes me no end that he's in the House of Commons, I would be positively thrilled to see him replaced by someone brighter.

Bart, I hadn't heard this story at all - thank you so much for putting it up!

  • Anders is almost an inspiration to the dumb, but ambitious all over Canada because he shows that you can be a bad MP, bad person and yet still win election after election.

However it's not only Anders that has ben't the rules with their parlimentry budget's. I can think of a numebr of Liberals that have done the same thing.

Dearest, I must note to never again drink tea when reading your commentary! ;)

  • Why break with tradition. How about send Rob to a diplomat post in...lets say.......Denmark?

  • Send Anders to Denmark? We'd be at war over Hans Island in 2 weeks?

  • Ah Denmark. It's always about Denmark.

  • It's been pointed out that in making his accusations, the accuser has admitted taking part in a criminal act. Will he back down or take his lumps?

  • The former Calgary Centre Alliance MP that Sean refers to was Eric Lowther.

  • Anders, Volpe, .. *sigh* the more things change the more they stay the same.

But I agree with that the best way for the Conservatives to handle this is to get him replaced as the Conservative candidate there.

On the other hand, some politicians are actually very well liked in their ridings but disliked in general.

  • Hey...as a conservative supporter, I BEG of SOMEONE to get rid of ANDERS. While you're at it.....tell him to pick up Cheryl Gallant on the way out.
