So Long For Now

  • Stephen Harper has no class.

    Not only did he not wish him goodbye on his last show, the guy had a parliamentary secretary respond for the government in the House.

    What a small man!

  • The PM was not in the House, and just maybe those saying it was a deliberate snub by the cbc not to have any "CPC" show up. Notice that the parliamentary sec. stmts were not shown once on any of the rebroadcasts. Maybe the cbc should put on a show of Newman singing.
    Ignoring the PM or any of his caucus could have been their plan, to get the kind of responses like the one above.
    If the PM could meet with Iggy, he would have given a tribute, if asked.
    I am sure Don knows the truth, after all, he has been the king for 30 years. He knows the mindset of cbc.

  • As the person who posted this video, I feel I should correct the record somewhat.

    Yes, Harper did not speak during the morning tribute in the HoC to Newman. He also didn't provide a testimonial.

    However, the CBC did include a number of clips from Conservatives in the show, such as Peter MacKay.

    There was a clip of a Newman interview with PM Harper during one of the sections of clips of old Newman interviews. In trying to get this video under the YouTube cap of 10 minutes though, it was one of the many clips I had to cut.

    So the CBC didn't snub Harper. I guess I did. But did Harper snub the CBC? That's another story.

  • What amazes me is how little Don Newman has aged (the main difference is that he has less of a double chin). I think he may have a future as the spokesman for a new line of cosmetics.

  • H2H - I thought the same thing about ageless Don. What made it even more apparent was the aging of Mansbridge throughout the tribute clips.

    The singing was hilarious as was the Me interviewing Me in the sweater.
