More Shuffling

Analysis to come later, but for now:

-Van Loan moves to International Trade,
-Toews takes over the Public Safety portfolio
-Day becomes president of the Treasury Board
-Lisa Raitt moves over to the Labour portfolio
-Rona Ambrose takes charge of the Public Works portfolio
-Christian Paradis takes the lead on the Natural Resources file
-Diane Ablonczy becomes the Minister of State for Seniors
-New Brunswick MP Rob Moore becomes the Minister of State Small Business and Tourism
-Jean-Pierre Blackburn takes over for Veterans Affairs Minister Greg Thompson
-New Brunswick MP Keith Ashfield becomes the new Minister of National Revenue

  • This was kind of a wasted opportunity for Harper. He does have quite a lot of experienced people in his caucus, yet he keeps fumblers like Raitt and Ambrose in cabinet, and moves intelligent people like Ablonczy and Blackburn into posts that don't suit their capabilities - essentially a demotion, especially for Blackburn, who would by far make the best Quebec leader for the Conservatives if given the chance.

  • I was in MadKat the day before it was papered-up and the clerk told me they are moving to another location on 24th (she pointed West) but she did not know the exact location. She made it sound like it was a few weeks off, so I was a bit shocked to see the paper on the windows the next day!
