That's More Like It

  • I think it is pretty clear what caused the medal dearth in the first place. Note that as soon as Gordon Campbell left China, team Canada started doing a lot better...

  • The real story in the Beijing Games is the decline of America, both absolutely and relatively. The Chinese have many more gold medals. The combined tally from three European countries (Britain, Germany and Italy) equals the American tally to date.

  • Yes, JimTan, this is definitely a sign of the fall of America. After all, it's not like China poured a huge amount of effort into doing well in the year they held the Olympics, or anything. (The US is still winning the overall medal count, BTW.)

And if you combine the medal totals of Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and Zimbabwe, they surpass Canada! Oh nos, we're doomed!

  • Yeppp... for some people, it's always somehow about America's decline, even when it isn't. It's sad, really, these people.

Anyway, hooray on 7 medals! Hope we can get 7 more!

  • "they surpass Canada! Oh nos, we're doomed!"

Canada doesn't claim to be numero uno. Canada merely has a lot of natural resources,

Sigh! I guess the Canadian neo-con are in denial. Most people around the world know that the Emperor has no clothes.

  • Funny how the Americans are all using the 'most overall medals' as the measurement in the medal count, when the 'official' IOC method is to use most gold medals. To be fair, China was kicking my ass in that department, I guess I would too.

  • Wow, I had no idea Canada had so many gay athletes... very interesting.

  • "so many gay athletes... very interesting"

    Why interesting?

By Blogger JimTan, at 11:27 a.m.

  • Why not interesting?

  • "Why not interesting?"

It's not interesting to me because sexual orientation doesn't matter. It's about the ability to perform the job.

So, why is it interesting to you?
