Be Nice To Me...

...or I might go on strike!

On Friday, it got to be too much for Alegre, a diarist on the flagship liberal blog DailyKos, who frequently writes in support of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

“I’ve put up with the abuse and anger because I’ve always believed in what our online community has tried to accomplish in this world,” Alegre
wrote Friday evening. “No more.”

Objecting to the tone of attacks against Mrs. Clinton and her supporters on the blog, the diarist called for a “writers strike.”

“This is a strike - a walkout over unfair writing conditions at DailyKos. It does not mean that if conditions get better I won’t ‘work’’ at DailyKos again,” Alegre wrote, promising to come back only “if we ever get to the point where we’re engaging each other in discussion rather than facing off in shouting matches."

  • And Marko's retort is here.

  • DK has been anti-Clinton since the Dean days (Markos particularly). A couple months ago Edwards won all the polls on DK, so that tells you how reflective, or indicative, the opinion of the readers are. It's always been a Hillary bashfest, nothing new there or particularly relevant.

  • I appreciate your point of view…and the fact that you share it. In following the elections here in California…it’s very easy to look at the state of this country,, and say…”screw it all…I’m moving to Canada”… but after all…it’s soo close to home. The system is the system…and regardless of who’s right’s those of us with them fight for…it always comes down to the “have’s”, and the “have not’s”. If the have-not’s would stand together…the difference would be made…in that moment! Hillary, McCain or Obama…it’s all the same.

  • The link Scott provided is a great example of Markos deep seated bias against Clinton. The funniest part, Markos posits himself as a progressive- that would be news to all the people who left the site after his "purges" and anti-feminist posts. Markos is so establishment it hurts, but he likes to rail, so his readership still buys into the proposition that he is "outside". That blog was amazing in 2003-2005, but most of the gem commentators left, and it has since just been a echo chamber of biblical proportions. I say this as user 3266, watching the site just before it broke.

  • Maybe I'll go on strike because of Mrs. Clinton's disgusting campaign tactics.

The problem isn't with Obama's over enthusiastic supporters. The problem here is that we are witnessing the end of 20 year fight between the Clinton's and Bush's. Sorta of exciting actually. But no Clinton will go down without a fight and without demonizing those who oppose them. This time however its not going to work.

  • The thing is that kos was for Clinton before he was against her. His only interest in these fights is who can win. Just read his latest post about this strike.

He changes his opinions as often as the wind blows and he doesn't care that there's a controversy about the strike on his blog. In fact, he thinks it's "great", as he put it. Great for his wallet, he means.
