I guess John Tory really does believe in this faith-based schools thing... but I wish he'd gone for something else. When a government is as sleazy as this one, they need to be turfed - or else everyone else gets the hint, quick: screw us, we're complacent.
God knows Howard Hampton can't be taken seriously as an alternative...
By Jacques Beau Vert, at 3:44 p.m.
It's funny but... I don't think politics should be approached with a laughing manner, particularly something as important as this. Using pop culture to promote politics is also kind of sad. I wish John Tory would simply stick to his own values and policies and leave the "promise breaker" theme alone for a while. Anyone who doesn't know McGuinty isn't a promise breaker by now, probably isn't voting anyway.

God knows Howard Hampton can't be taken seriously as an alternative...
Maybe God knows but I don't, with Dalton a proven liar and Tory calling for Ontario to adopt a Saudi model of education, what is equivalent knock against Hampton?

New Democrat?

"Tory calling for Ontario to adopt a Saudi model of education"
I didn't know the Saudis funded all religious denominational schools equally....
wow, pretty embarassing for Ontario to be less progressive than Saudi Arabia.
By Tarkwell Robotico, at 3:39 p.m.
Jason, McGuinty doesn't excite or inspire, but he doesn't repel.
Compared to the mean-spirited thugs he replaced, who now infest Ottawa, McGuinty was and is a breath of fresh air. On the sleaziness scale for Canadian provincial governments, it's nowhere close to being a chart-topper.
If I believed there was a better alternative out there, I'd vote for it. But it's not the Mike Harris party.
By Reality Bites, at 4:56 p.m.
Anyone who isn't repelled by Dalton McGuinty isn't conscious.

So are we going to fund Wiccan and Rastafarian schools? Not even ID but Creationism alongside evolution, I have to shake my head. Tory wants more religion in public education, thats backwards. Ontario seems to be moving that way these days...
By Unknown, at 11:24 p.m.
To everyone who opposes Tory's plan to extend funding for religious schools:
If you oppose his plan because it means that public funds will support a religious school then you should support withdrawing funding for Catholic school boards.
As the Globe and Mail said, it is unfair to fund Catholics but no one else.
Personally I'd rather if all religious schools had no public funding. But so far no party is supporting that...

And anyone who trusts the Harrisites is a fool. Need you be reminded that the previous government is responsible for the current fiscal mess, with municipalities saddled with the costs of provincial services? The former government that sold the 407 for a song? That fired thousands of nurses only to have to hire them back?
I don't like McGuinty much either. His government has thus far failed to right most of the wrongs of the Harris/Eves years. And he comes off as a sanctimonious twit.
Just what are the alternatives, at least for the premier's chair?

Sure, I'd support that, its not a huge priority of mine though, obviously no one thinks votes are going to be gained from pushing for this except from the anti-Catholic voter, not as significant as it used to be in grandpa's day.
But its totally ridiculous to say since Catholics get public funding, something I disagree with, every other religious group should get funding. That's just more of something I already do not like. That's like arguing that because I don't think we should criminalize marijuana use, we should continue to criminalize it and criminalize booze and cigarettes just to be fair. Or even better because I don't like paying sales tax on most things, we should have to pay it on everything.
Tory wants the Ontario tax payer to fork out more money so that children can be taught that the earth is 5000 years old. Thats a real leader aright...

Josh, you're fantasizing again.
