Divide the Right

Via Ken Chapman comes news of Link Byfield's new right wing Albertan party - the Wild Rose Party.

So, for those keeping track, that gives Alberta:

The Alberta Alliance
Social Credit
The Wild Rose Party
The Alberta Party
The Separation Party

On the right side of the spectrum.

  • Didn't the Socreds actually beat the Alliance in Drumheller recently? Perhaps there will be a "unite the extreme right" movement in the near future.

  • Was leaving out the Alberta PC's from your list of parties-on-the-right (a) a Freudian slip, (b) a deliberate choice, or (c) part of Ed Stelmech's master plan?

But otherwise, good point. I don't know what the heck Link & Co. are thinking here, unless they've decided that after the by-elections (and I think Josh is right re: Drumheller), the AA is gonzo.

Of course, if anyone is having it worse than the AA, it's the Alberta ND's. Didn't they get wollaped just as bad or worse in both of those by-election ridings?

  • I think you're right about the ND's. I don't recall seeing any signs (ha!) when I passed through Drumheller two weeks ago.

  • Imagine if Alberta had proportional representation...

  • so that summed the right.
what about the left of center?
    NDP
    LIBS
    Greens
    commies

  • And the Tories STILL win.....we are about to split the right in Manitoba as well.
