1. Tasha makes some very smart comments on the budget.
2. Antonio and I bicker about the fiscal imbalance (which I can't for the life of me seem to pronounce properly no matter how hard I try).
3. Antonio goes on an absolutely amazing rant against Mario Dumont.
Anyways, check is out here.

I just think you need to fix your physical imbalance ;)

Say it over and over again. Fiscal Imbalance, Fiscal Imbalance, Fiscal Imbalance.
Apart from those, a very entertaining session overall. definitely one of the more fun ones I've listened to. Although it does seem weird that Greg had 2 liberals on for the majority of the podcast, talking about the Conservative's budget.

I like to keep the audience guessing.

I was happy to hear the acknowledgement that there is still only one taxpayer for three levels of government in Canada. (Even if some don't seem to understand how taxation works in Canada - that the Alberta Provincial gov't isn't "taxed" by the feds. So sad.)
That additional transfers to Provinces in this budget could as easily have been a direct tax cut from the federal gov't. Or a tax cut from the provincial gov't. Or the Provinces could hand the money to the municipalities for muni tax bills to be reduced.
Or the money could be applied to relieve politicians of the responsibility to trim the fat (i.e. no new spending, no new cuts).
Or the money can be applied to new program spending.
That there are significantly more budgetary pressures at the lower two levels than at the federal levels is evidence of a taxation imbalance - a fiscal imbalance.
But at least it's not new federal program spending. And conservatives can be glad at that.
