SSM is going to cause us to be out of temporal alignment with the rest of North America in March and October by 1 hour.
I didn't see that in the fine print.

LOL. That's true too. We thought we were third in a three horse race, and there was Spain - out of nowhere.

What evidence can Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson, or anyone else, present to the Canadian people to prove that Queen Elizabeth II did actually indeed consent to and enact Bill C-38?
First, Queen Elizabeth II participates in a highly-publicized coronation event during which the Archbishop of Canterbury states:
"And as Solomon was anointed king by Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet, so be thou anointed, blessed, and consecrated Queen over the Peoples, whom the Lord thy God hath given thee to rule and govern, In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen"
"...that by the assistance of his heavenly grace you may govern and preserve the Peoples committed to your charge..."
"The Lord who hath made you Queen over these Peoples..."
Queen Elizabeth II promises to the utmost of her power to maintain the laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel, which laws of God are found in the New Testament King James Bible, referred to at her coronation as "the most valuable thing that this world affords".
For more than fifty years, Queen Elizabeth II supposedly maintains that “marriage” means a marriage between a man and a woman, consistent with the laws of God.
Then, all of a sudden, Queen Elizabeth II allegedly claims that the lawful definition of marriage for everyone in Canada is some definition contrary to the laws of God in the New Testament King James Bible!
Why should people believe Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson, or anyone else, that Queen Elizabeth II actually did indeed consent to and enact Bill C-38?

David, we don't live in a monarchy. It's a democracy, which is fundamentally based on equal rights and freedoms of all citizens.

Yeah, I hate it when women cut their hair short. It looks so much more beautiful when it's long.

Hey! We still lead the pack on two fronts:
1) Most gay-married military officers in the world.
2) Most gay weddings held on a military base.
Way to go Canada! That's history!

David, we don't live in a monarchy. It's a democracy, which is fundamentally based on equal rights and freedoms of all citizens.
Canadians voluntarily and democratically participated in elections with the understanding that the Queen is "Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom, Canada and Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith".
By participating in these elections, Canadians consented and elected to have a Queen with the title "Defender of the Faith".
One job of a defender of the Christian faith is to defend the Christian definition of marriage.
Every individual is equal before and under God's law that "he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may
please [his] wife" and God's law that "she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please [her] husband". (1 Corinthians 7:33-34, KJV).
Every individual has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of God's law that "he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please [his] wife" and of God's law that "she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please [her] husband".

David ... you are obviously blissfully ignorant (head up your ass?) of the principle of "responsible government" by which the Westminster parliamentary model of democratic government operates ... namely that if it be "the will of the people", then the monarch (or representative) will by this principle enact into law the will of parliament.
Our parliament by enacting C-38 (which I am a HUGE fan of) simply brought existing legislation into alignment with the CHarter of Rigths & Freedoms and several legal precedents set already in most jurisdictions of Canada. It's only us hicks out in Alberta who're still pouting about it ... The queen's role as Defender of the Faith is also an purely religious appellation of teh Anglican Church and (strictly speaking) has never had any meaning in practical government. I mean, hell, that title ONLY came about because Henry VIII wanted to wack his wives and needed to break with the pope to do it ... so using that as a means of trying to justify the queen taking action to "defend the sacred traditional family values" is just beyond laughable ...
