To Paris with Love

From today's Globe & Mail comes what can only be described as a delayed April Fool's Day Joke:

Indian director wants Paris Hilton as Mother Teresa

Thiruvananthapuram, India -- An Indian movie director said yesterday he hopes to persuade Paris Hilton to play the role of Nobel laureate and prospective Catholic Saint, Mother Teresa, in an upcoming film.

"Her features resemble Mother Teresa," director T. Rajeevnath told AFP from the southwestern coastal state of Kerala. The filmmaker said Hilton is on his short list after a computer-generated image showed a close facial match between the hotel heiress and the Albanian-born nun.

Mother Teresa, who died in 1997, worked among the poor in the teeming slums of Calcutta, with the Missionaries of Charity. She was beatified by Pope John Paul in 2003.
"A meeting with Paris Hilton is scheduled for the end of April," Rajeevnath said.

Hilton's previous movie experience includes appearing in a home-made sex video made by a former boyfriend that appeared on the Internet, and parts in several B-movies. The blond socialite also starred in the U.S. reality-television show The Simple Life. AFP

That has got to be one of the most bizarre uses of "previous movie experience" ever...

  • Don't forget house of wax...she's an accomplished actress by now :P

  • That would be truly offensive to me, both as a Catholic and as someone who thinks Paris Hilton deserves to starve to death as punishment for uselessness.

  • With that headline, I was expecting a Pierre Pettigrew story.

  • Yeah, its true. some D-head director, if he seriosuly goes ahead with it, the movie can never be shot on India. there will be riots, paris Hilton for mother TheresaOMG. people in India love Mother Theresa, they will never allow it, even it means burnging the sets of the movie.

  • Paris Hilton deserves to starve to death as punishment for uselessness.

    Doesn't Paris starve herself now?

  • i can also confirm this story's true. the sad thing is that the director is well-respected in that part of India, sorta like a second-tier spielberg (in terms of stature and respect, not movies). this story's at least 6 months old.

  • I can't manage to get irate about anything to do with Paris Hilton, even as a Catholic ... if that is indeed true, it's the funniest thing i've read in months
