Lacing them up
We already know Stephen Harper can play a few songs on the piano. Today comes confirmation that Michael Ignatieff is able to skate. Next week, Jack Layton bakes a cake, to prove that he has what it takes to lead Canada.
In all seriousness, this video is gold - not just because of the skating or the kids, but because Ignatieff looks like he's got energy and looks like he's having a great time.
$10 says some of these clips find their way into a Liberal commercial next election.

I loved this, especially the kids calling Michael "Prime Minister". The video was spontaneous and fun.

I think Iggy should always be on skates... Maybe a cross-Canada arena tour - right time to do it!

Pardon my cynicism, but if you think the kid calling Ignatieff "Prime Minister" was spontaneous, I have a Quebec advertising contract to sell you.

I'd like to see Iggy with a hockey stick playing shinny on a backyard rink, pond or some pick up game.
All I've ever seen Harper do is don a jersey and jump up from the couch.
Those who can do; those who can't write a book.

There were pictures from a couple Christmases ago of Harper playing hockey on a frozen dugout at his in-laws' farm.

They key word may be "pictures" rather than videos.
"... while his staffers describe him as "an avid hockey fan" ... the elder Harper could apparently learn a thing or two from young Ben. Before the visit, when a staffer was asked whether the PM would be donning the blades at practice, the response came that Harper is "not a great skater."
