OTTAWA — Michael Ignatieff’s attempt to douse controversy over his views on Middle East conflict were stymied today when his invitation to visit Israel was postponed until after the Liberal leadership race.
The Canada-Israel Committee didn’t want an all-party parliamentary delegation to the Middle East to turn into a leadership side show.

That's a pity. If anyone could bring all the factions together in a common goal, it would be him.
And it's not like anyone here would miss him after that goal was achieved.

Of course they want it politicized. For their purposes, like any other lobby group. Ford doesn't buy advertising time on TV and then let Tide use it to sell detergent.

It would be very interesting to look into the conversations that went into closing this thing.
I'm guessing Ignatieff's people were BEGGING the CIC to shut it down...at least until after the election.

It can't succeed in fact, that's what I believe.
