Vote Out Anders...part 78

From the CTV weblog, comes news that Rob Anders is campaigning...in British Columbia. Apparently Anders has sent questionnaires on Crystal Meth to Richmond, BC in an effort to help out the Conservative cause.

Among the questions: "Do you support homosexual sex marriage"?

At the very least I now understand why so many Conservatives are against homosexual sex marriage. It's not because they're traditionalists or close-minded; it's because they're against crystal meth.

35 Comments:

  • Indeed. And because they don't like masked gunmen. The fact that he had the nerve to spend taxpayer dollars (during an election) to send the question "Do you like the way Paul Martin spends your taxes" across the Rocky Mountains really irks me too.

A picture of the pamphlet can be found here: http://www.richmond-news.com/issues05/122205/news/122205nn3.html

  • First of all, explain to me how he used taxpayers money to do this. Second, it appeared to me there were two other questions on that pamphlet, none have to do with same sex marriage or crime. So what gives? It looks to me that it is an honest question. What the problem with asking? Most polls show a 50/50 split on ssm. Your liberal hypocricy floors me. You claim the moral high ground on supposed constitutional rights.. I think he has the right to ask that question. By the way polly, the big red machine never plays on peoples fears do they? No one told you to be scared of the conservatives did they?

  • Yes, that terrible Rob Anders, trying to play on people's emotional reactions to score cheap political points. It sounds like something Paul Martin would do, in downtown Toronto about hand guns.

  • Calgary,

Check out this post by MKBraaten:

    http://www.mkbraaten.com/2005/12/10/martin-linked-medisys-income-trust-stock-volume-increased-3400-the-day-before-goodale-trust-announcement/

He says PAUL MARTIN'S PERSONAL PHYSICIAN'S MEDICAL COMPANY'S STOCK INCREASED IN VOLUME BY 3400% THE DAY BEFORE THE INCOME TRUST ANNOUNCEMENT.

Oh BTW, THE COMPANY HAS INCOME TRUSTS.

  • cg, this post made my day. honestly, it had

    1. old people being paranoid about meth
    2. rob anders being a tard
    3. the phrase "homosexual sex marriage"

    thank you.

  • Conservatives are obsessed with anal sex. Why I don't know, but I wish they'd come out of the closet and tell us.

    Is it self-loathing?

The only crime against humanity I see here is intolerance of other human beings.

  • Can I support Homosexual no-sex marriage? I'm all for letting people marry who they wish, but that gay secks is just gross. :P

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:25 a.m.

  • At the very least, it proves that Conservatives are abysmally stupid (look at the insane rationalising going on here to explain away this egregious gaffe). At the most, it proves how mean they are.

Don't let these people get power. Everyone will end up regretting it.

...by the way, I really wish Conservatives would learn to spell the word "hypocrisy." I can easily overlook spelling mistakes, but since they use that word so often, the fact that they can't spell it has become grating.

  • What I don't get from the CPC's strategy is that Canadians have stopped this debate on SSM. The split may be 50/50, but now most agree that the debate is closed. Seriously.

I think the biggest problem for the federal CPC is that they are social conservatives, not fiscal conservatives (unlike most of Ontario's Tories - remember we voted for them for the last 8 years, and they have 50% support in Ontario NOW).

  • Polly,

Describing Alberta as a place with a "climate of intolerance" is correct. We are intolerant of Liberals who shit on us from on high with condescending bull shit about tolerance. We also don't take kindly to moralising holier than thou types who in the same breath still support the kind of corruption, thievery and patronage found in the Liberal Party. Have a look at a couple of Liberal backbenchers like Telgedi before you start pissing on the Rob Anders of this world.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:18 p.m.

  • Gee and I thought the whole point of this was the fact that Anders abused his franking (not Frank magazine) privileges by using the taxpayer funded mail out to sedn material to a riding other than his own. Or is that too obvious.

  • Rob Anders... jeezuz murphy! I live in Calgary West and we hardly hear a peep from him until he says something stupid. But even that is few and far between. Head Office has been keeping a lid on him.

The guy is virtually inaccessable by phone, but he spends taxpayers' money sending surveys outside Alberta.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:20 p.m.

  • Talk about stealing a page out of the Republican's playbook. Candidates in the last US election did the exact same thing to get voter turnout in the South.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:54 p.m.

  • Thank you Brain g Cowell. I have been waiting to hear those words from a Conservative supporter for a very long time. I have heard many a Liberal supporter rightly bash that moron Wappal for example, but when it comes to candidates, such as Anders, the Conservatives I have come accross tend to circle the wagons. I would disagree with you on this though. Anders might be off in his own little world, but he is certainly not alone in the Conservative universe. Thompson, Chatters, Gallant, Forseth, Hanger, Toews, Day, Breitkreuz, Hiebert, Warrawa, and Vellacott form, well, a galaxy of nuts.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:50 p.m.

  • I don't think partisans of any party should be lauding themselves overly on how they're all about "hope". The Liberals's message is "the world will end tomorrow if Stephen Harper ever becomes Prime Minister" evidently despite any conservative's statements to the contrary our "real" plan is to "distribute free handguns and lolly pops to downtown Toronto kids, while privatizing healthcare, outlawing abortions, creating some fascist military complex, letting Vlad the Impaler take care of the gay people and turning Canada into George Bush's America".

Its all essentially silly fear mongering. Conservatives and Stephen Harper just want to pay less taxes. Rob Anders can say whatever he wants, but he's so far down the party's depth chart that pretending he speaks for all of us is silly. Its like blaming the rest of the Oilers when Ignor Ulinov decides to cough up the puck in the dying minutes of that game.

I don't think the NDP or the Greens are any better. They wander around preaching about how climate change ends the world tomorrow unless we suck billions out of the economy and seek to drive the unemployment rate up to ridiculous levels as a result. As well as having the same healthcare song and dance.

On the other hand Conservatives have been arguing that the Liberals are corrupt, morally bankrupt and criminal. The only real difference between these claims and others has been that they happened to be true.

All the same, every party attempts to use fear as a motivating factor to get people to vote for them. On the other hand, it happens to Rob Anders whom is doing it in a small isolated area this time while the rest of the party has been positive and upbeat. While on the other hand Martin simly continues to show he really has nothing to offer Canadians but a dishonest campaign of fear and raising American boogeymen. All while Harper and Layton are out there actually talking about policy.

By Blogger Chris, at 4:44 p.m.

  • Umm... that was nicely put Chris. I still think Martin is the second-coming of the antichrist, but somehow I feel strangely better...

What, on God's Green Earth, has any of this to do with Anders abusing his franking privilege and distributing hate propaganda?

Is ADHD a pre-requisite for Conservatives now?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:45 p.m.

  • well, anonymous I'd call it putting things into perspective and suggesting that Anders actions are neglible compared to the fearmongering the Liberal's engage in.

As regards to MP's putting out news letters they all ask for feedback about issues. Nothing wrong with that, everyone is simply upset about anders having worded his question to be leading.

By Blogger Chris, at 7:36 p.m.

  • I would just like to point out, this riding doesn't get a lot of choice.

Yes Anders is a dbag, and I am a conservative in Calgary West who won't vote for him.

But, have you taken a look at the NDP candidate??

    http://www.ndp.ca/tealephelpsbondaroff/welcome

So who is this young looking kid posing as an NDP candidate? He was at Aberhart highschool in Calgary just two years ago, and I distinctly remember his 'Utopia project' being a vast communist empire. No I am NOT making this stuff up.

What are some of his key policy points? Well I was out drinking with him this summer, and I know he likes to drink a LOT of exotic hard liquors, plus he rolls a good joint, and even makes a mean weed brownie. So maybe he would be onboard with the legalization of pot.

NO, I AM STILL NOT MAKING THIS UP.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the guy. He's really smart, loves politics, and has great people skills. However, I just don't think he has any experience with the real world.

He would definitly make a great MP one day, but I think everyone needs time to grow a little and experience life before they can even pretend to represent 'the people' in the public service.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Teale Phelps Bondaroff was a prominent member of the Aberhart debate team, who if i am not mistaken, did very well in the national debate finals. 1st or 2nd i believe... Basically I can't wait until Teale gets a hold of Anders when it's unscripted, he should be able to tear him apart.

  • Rob Anders is a sick and revolting human being and should be turfed from his seat.
The fact the drones in Calgary keep re-electing him is to their eternal shame.

By Blogger John Murney , at 1:47 p.m.

  • I live in Richmond.

    My request is simple:

Will the conservatives in Calgary West please find someone--to challenge Anders for the party nomination?

Imagine if Svend Robinson or Hedy Fry were sending *you* surveys and you'd understand my ire.

By Blogger Wrye, at 5:42 p.m.

  • Speaking of "homosexual sex marriage", the lastest sermon from the mound is from Paul Forseth. Get this. Not only does SSM marriage represent the "moral breakdown of society" it is also endangering Canada's economic future. http://vancouver.24hrs.ca/Columnists/NewsViewsAttitude/

One can always depend on Forseth for words of wisdom. His best known ditty is "Social security is welfare for the aged." My personal favorite, though, is his view that skin head attacks on gay men are really better described as gang on gang violence. "That's my guess, yes, especially where you have alcohol and drugs and mix that with very short-term changing sexual relationships... There's a lot of jealousy... they [homosexuals] are vengeful, and their health isn't very good. [Skinheads bashing gays] is one kind of marginalized group doing its thing against another marginalized sub-group, which essentially has nothing to do with human rights before the law. It's purely one gang going against another gang."

By Blogger Koby, at 5:48 p.m.

  • The upside is that Forseth is going to lose his seat!

Hmm... Anders is in Harper's old riding. Next time around, can he go back there and take out Anders? PLEASE???? I'm a CPC supporter, but getting these wingnuts out of the public view is a MUST. Thankfully I know that they'll never be put in a position of authority under Harper, but still...

  • Calgary will prove once again its utter lack of political diversity and sophistication by being the only major city in Canada to elect nothing but Conservatives. Calgary West in particular is a glaring example of how a do-nothing, Mandela-hating, holier-than-thou gay-bashing Neanderthal can get re-elected time after time by voters who can't be bothered to take an honest critical look at their MP's positions. In any other large Canadian city, Anders would be an embarrassment, but hey this is Calgary where anyone, regardless of competence, can get elected as long as they run under the Conservative banner.

  • As a resident of Calgary West I am quite frankly mystified as to why the supposedly intelligent and well-educated folks in this riding keep reelecting Rob Anders. He is a geek, a moron, and definitely off his rocker. I am grateful that it is Christmas and people aren't putting up Anders signs in my neighbourhood. He needs to go but sadly I don't think it's in the cards. At least his "handlers" have been keeping him muzzled lately - except for that stupid brochure.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:37 p.m.

  • As i former U of C and U of A student, Anders was in one of my political science classes.... he sat at the front while i sat near the back.... Although, Anders did ask a lot of questions, i found most of them to be relevant.... Some of them just making the Professor annoyed.... i think the prof just wanted everyone to accept his 'holier than thou' spewing.
I always kind of thought Anders was a geek but he was definately not stupid or afraid to ask a tough question. im kind of shocked to see him years down the road as an MP. If you don't like Anders, you should get off your lazy ass and go talk to him in his riding office, i bet you he has no life and is there right now....

As for you people embarrassed by the 40 year record of conservatives always winning in Calgary....

    ...move...

we don't need your gay communist asses around here anyways..... you should of learned by now, you don't matter when it comes to electing MP's.

By the way,Toronto's on the phone for you... they want you home...

  • I'm a resident in Calgary West AND I went to high school with Rob. I remember him because when we held model parliament he won the role of Prime Minister under a facist flag (the Septa Spartans, I believe they were called). I was apalled at the time that the majority of the high school (who voted) would vote for someone flying a fascist flag. I was not surprised to find out later that he had become an MP in the Reform party.
I don't think he has changed much since high school and somehow he is still able to convince large groups of people to vote for him.
Its surprising to realise that those who vote Conservative in this riding are more afraid of Liberals or NDPers than they are of a Conservative with a clearly distorted sense of reality.
Why won't the Conservatives choose someone better to run in this riding? Why must I be represented by him?
I didn't understand in High School and I still don't.

Please, the rest of Canada, remember not everyone in this riding votes for him. Though it may not seem like it, there is diversity out here.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:26 p.m.

  • Anders needs to go. I've written the CPC twice begging to oust him for a better candidate and never gotten even a response. If he wins again I'll lose my faith in democracy, and I'll definitely lose my faith in the people of Calgary West who prove year after year to be the most ignorant constituency in canada. Re-electing "Canada's Worst MP"
